The Future of Ashburn Village: Our Capital Plan Journey
Community feedback, volunteer leadership, and data-driven planning are shaping our neighborhood's future.
A thriving community doesn't happen by accident. Over the past several months, the Ashburn Village Community Association has been working on a comprehensive Capital Plan to ensure our aging infrastructure, recreational facilities, and common areas are modernized responsibly. This plan belongs to the community, and it has been built from the ground up using your direct feedback. Here is how we got here—and where we are going next.
It Started with You: The Resident Survey
We kicked off this process by asking the most important stakeholders—our neighbors—what matters most to them. Through a comprehensive community-wide survey, neighbors shared their priorities regarding our trails, lakes, sports pavilions, and community spaces.
What we learned: Residents overwhelmingly value the preservation of our active recreational amenities and want to ensure maintenance delays don't impact home values.
The Mandate: You gave us a clear directive to prioritize smart, proactive modernization over emergency, band-aid repairs.
Neighbors Leading Neighbors: The Ambassador Program
To bridge the gap between management and residents, we launched the Capital Plan Ambassador Program. These dedicated resident volunteers stepped up to represent our community in focused discussion.
Over a series of meetings with our planning consultant, Ambassadors ensured that the unique voices of our owners are reflected in every line item. Their advocacy has been vital in keeping this plan realistic and community-focused.
Opening the Doors: Our June 18th Open House
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent Capital Plan Open House! It was incredible to see almost 350 of our neighbors engaging directly with our draft concepts, talking with us and our consultants about the future of our community. For those who missed it, the event showcased our initial, preliminary draft concepts.
Looking for the presentation boards? > We are currently compiling all the excellent feedback, questions, and structural suggestions we received from attendees. Our consulting team is actively working to incorporate that community input directly into the next version of the plan.
We will publish the fully updated, finalized project designs and layouts as part of our upcoming community-wide information campaign. Stay tuned!
