2022 ASSESSMENT RATES
Reminder that the assessment amounts have changed. Please be sure to update your bill pay to reflect the new assessment rates. All residents enrolled in the AVCA Direct Debit program have automatically been updated. See the website for ways to pay your assessments.
 
FACILITIES & GROUNDS
  • NO Motorized Vehicles are allowed in any common area, sports field, sport court, tennis court, etc. Go-Carts, Delivery Trucks
  • Plowed snow, salted and cleaned ice from sidewalks
  • Repaired ceiling and alarms at Pavilion
  • Removed broken light pole on Tippecanoe and conducted the January light sweep

  • Virtual Board of Directors Meeting* - Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Please note the special meeting time: 6pm begin for executive session with legal counsel; 7pm begin open meeting with home owners. If you are scheduled to appear before the Board on January 25, but you've fixed the violation, please give us a call at the office and let us know.

We love the enthusiasm of our residents who deck their houses out for the holidays! But it's time to finish putting away the Christmas lights and wreaths. Holiday decorations and lighting must be removed not later than fourteen (14) days after the holiday.
 
HEALTH EXPO AT THE SPORTS PAVILION TOMORROW!
Ashburn Village’s annual HEALTH EXPO is TOMORROW, Saturday 1/22 from 9am-1pm. Come out for fitness demos, raffle prizes, bounce house, face painter and healthy vendors!
 
EVENTS
The Fiesta 5K/10K will be held on Saturday 5/7 and will feature a new route! Registration will open at the Health Expo and attendees of the event will receive a discount code! 
 
AVSP 
  • The Basketball court will be closed on Friday 1/21 from 7am-3pm for repairs and on Saturday 1/22 from 7am-1pm for the HELP event. 
  • Reminder -- members must be over the age of 13 to use the facility without a parent or guardian present.
  • With different sports being played in the basketball gym it’s important that we keep the new equipment and nets stored properly. Please refer to the signs in the gym for how equipment should be placed when finished.
  • Interested in learning pickleball or are you a beginner? Join fellow newbies on Sunday morning for beginner pickleball in the basketball court from 8am-10am
Shoveling the Sidewalks
Thank you to all homeowners and residents, who keep their sidewalks and front walks and steps shoveled and clear of ice whenever we have snow.
 
Some tips from Loudoun County:
  • Shovel Your Sidewalks - Be a good neighbor and clear the sidewalk in front of and alongside your home following the end of the snowstorm. Chapter 1022.01 of the Loudoun County Codified Ordinances requires snow removal on sidewalks on properties that are adjacent to public streets.
  • Clear Snow From Decks - Snow is heavy and can put a great deal of strain on decks. If you can safely shovel the snow from your deck, do so.
  • Clear Fire Hydrants - Firefighters need to be able to quickly locate fire hydrants, or lives and property could be lost. You can help by clearing a three-foot radius around hydrants near your home or business.
  • Be Safe - Avoid injury and over exertion by pacing yourself and taking frequent breaks to rest, gently stretch your back, arms and legs. Be careful when shoveling snow, clearing ice, pushing a car, or similar activities.
The Ashburn Village Neighbor-2-Neighbor Program on our website lists residents who are willing to shovel driveways, sidewalks and around cars

  • Help us keep the gym and equipment clean from snow and salt! If coming to the gym, please bring an extra set of shoes and change into them before working out.  
  • Register for our Teacher Work Day Camp Monday, January 31st and Tuesday, February 1st, kids will enjoy gym activities, swimming, crafts and more, To register or have more questions, please contact Youth Program Director, Erin May at emay@ashburnvillage.org

CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL
Christmas trees will be collected with yard waste on the first two Mondays in January: Monday, January 3rd & 10th. The tree must be free of ornaments and tinsel/garland, and if the tree is over 8 feet in length, it must be cut in half before being placed on the curb.

AVSP INFORMATION
AVSP will be closing early on Friday 12/31 at 1pm and will be closed on Saturday 1/1. We will return our normal hours at 7am on Sunday 1/2.
Starting on Monday January 3rd we will have new programing in the basketball gym, the gym schedule and signage will be updated. During the times below the gym will be closed for all other activities.
Monday: 6pm-8pm Pickleball
Tuesday: 8pm-10pm Futsal 
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday : 10am-12pm Pickleball
Sunday: 8am-10am Pickleball *this time is geared towards beginners who want to learn the sport with other newbies*

Decorating Trees
Our Facilities and Grounds crew noticed that two trees along Ashburn Village Blvd were decorated with zip ties holding the decorations on. The two trees in question were just planted last year and are still easily damaged. Zip ties will hurt young tree branches and scar them when the wind blows. As adorable as the decorations may be, decorating any Common Area property is against Association rules. We need to protect these trees. Please only decorate on your own property. Thank you!

Did you know that AVCA charges the homeowner a $25 administrative fee for checks that have to be processed at the management office? That includes walk-ins, dropbox outside the door, and checks mailed to our office. Avoid this fee by signing up for direct debit or paying through your bank's bill pay. Click HERE for more information.

The AVCA office will be closing at 11 AM today for a holiday event. We'll be back bright and early on Monday morning.
 
SNOW POLICY UPDATES
The Board of Directors updated the Snow Policy with the sequence in which the areas will be cleared. The sequence of clearing is as follows:
  1. Residential streets owned by the Association
  2. Pavilion parking lot and walkways
  3. HOA Office parking lot and walkways
  4. Rec centers, if they are rented or scheduled to hold an event
  5. Walking paths and sidewalks along Ashburn Village Blvd (from Farmwell Rd to Russell Branch Pkwy) and Gloucester Pkwy (from Ashburn Rd to Marblehead Dr).
  6. Walking paths within the community will be cleared during normal working hours, if necessary. Otherwise, they will be allowed to be cleared naturally by the weather.
 
MANAGER'S REPORT FROM THE BOARD MEETING
Below are the highlights from the November/December 2021 Board of Directors meeting:
  • Approve rehabilitation of pollinator gardens.
  • Approve order of 200 street light posts for installation.
  • Ratify approval of 2022 budget.
  • Approve pool management agreement with Premier Aquatics.
  • Approve updates to the tree policy, featured on www.ashburnvillage.org.
  • Approve updates to the snow policy, featured on www.ashburnvillage.org.
  • Approve meeting virtually until the board decides otherwise.

Santa is coming to town tomorrow, Saturday 12/4! Festivities start at 4:30pm at the Sports Pavilion. Santa's ETA is 6pm. Invite your neighbors! NEW this year, while you wait for Santa to arrive on the fire truck, bundle up your family for photos with Mrs. Claus, her sleigh and a reindeer! Our Facilities and Grounds crew is busy every week maintaining the amenities around the Village. Here are some of the work they completed this week.
  • Painted yellow lines and curbs at end of Livonia
  • Removed remaining pool umbrellas
  • Finished painting gas lamps on gala
  • Took down trash enclosure at pavilion to prep for new pad and enclosure
 
EVENTS
  • Thanks4Giving – We have started our Salvation Army Holiday Gift Drive early this year. Please visit the “Poul-Tree” in the Sports Pavilion lobby to adopt a local member of our community this holiday season. We have 19 children who still need to be "adopted" this year.
  • Santa is coming to town on Saturday 12/4. While you wait for Santa to arrive on the fire truck, bundle up your family for photos with Mrs. Clause, her sleigh and a reindeer! Stay tuned for more info. Click HERE for more info.

Do You Want To Learn Pickleball?
Recently AVCA bought movable pickleball nets and painted lines on each side of the 3 tennis courts at the Woods Recreation Center to create 6 pickle ball courts. Members of the Racquet Steering Committee are eager for you to use this new equipment and try this popular sport.
 
We have been hosting Members Teaching Members Pickleball clinics, and last week had 11 participants! This Sunday, November 21, is our last lesson.
 
If you're interested in learning this fast-growing sport, contact Susan Godfrey at sfrankgodfrey@gmail.com. To attend you must be an adult (over 18 years) and be a member of AVSP in good standing. Please bring your membership card when you show up to prove residency. Paddles and balls will be provided. Hope to see you on the courts!!!

EVENTS
The Events Committee will be hosting a virtual meeting on Monday 11/15 at 5pm. To access the meeting click HERE to join us on zoom.  
Thanks4Giving – we are starting our Salvation Army Holiday Gift Drive early this year and are having a “Poul-Tree”. Please visit the AVSP lobby if you would like to adopt a local member of our community this holiday season. We have 45 children who are in need of assistance this year.
 
FACILITIES & GROUNDS
Our Facilities and Grounds crew is busy every week maintaining the amenities around the Village. Here are some of the work they completed this week.
 
  • Painted fence at Woods tennis courts
  • Painted wood retaining walls at Fincastle Field 
  • Replaced multiple stop signs throughout the Village
  • Installed new microwave at Woods Recreation Center
 
2022 BUDGET
The Board of Directors approved the budget for 2022. A postcard that lists the assessment rates for 2022 will be mailed out to each homeowner. The rates are also posted on the homepage of the Ashburn Village website ashburnvillage.org. The budget summary will be provided with the next edition of the Villager.
 
AVSP INFORMATION
Great news, the tennis bubble will now stay open until 6pm on Saturday and Sundays, reserve court time online or by calling the front desk.  
Cardio Tennis is back! We are offering cardio tennis on Wednesday nights from 7:30pm-8:30pm with Coach Monika. There are 3 ways to sign up, on the signup sheet in the bubble or you can register online HERE or by calling the front desk 703-729-0581.
