ASHBURN VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Thank you to everyone who signed up and those who were able to attend the Neighborhood Watch “kick off” meeting.  We were provided a lot of information from 3 deputies and many good questions were posed from neighbors.

Remember “See Something, Say Something” and “9PM Routine”.  If you see something, please call the non-emergency number 703-777-1021.

The Sheriff’s Office has a new initiative “9PM Routine” – spread this catch phrase to your neighbors.  It’s pretty clear, at 9:00 every night, check your car doors, all the doors to your home, your garage doors and leave a light on your front porch …

What do we need to do next?

 1.       Please have your family attend National Night Out on August 1st from 7-9 at the Lakes Pool (check out our website).  Tell all your neighbors to leave their front porch light on … in fact, it would be a good idea if everyone would begin the routine of LEAVING YOUR FRONT PORCH LIGHT ON EVERY NIGHT.

2.      We need to get Block Captains/Co-Block Captains throughout the Village in order for our efforts to be successful.  As a Block Captain you would be notified by your neighbors of suspicious things happening/going on in your neighborhood – depending on what the “issue” is, this could occur after the Sheriff’s Office has been contacted.  Block Captains would then notify me, Terry Brickerd, and I would be following up with the Deputies and our HOA Office. PLEASE SIGN UP TO BE A BLOCK CAPTAIN/CO-BLOCK CAPTAIN – email terrybrickerd@yahoo.com

3.      The Deputies have begun working on obtaining the Neighborhood Watch signs to be posted throughout Ashburn Village.

4.      We are tentatively planning our next meeting for October.  Additional meetings will be scheduled which might include guest speakers.

IT WILL TAKE A VILLAGE TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE.

Questions?  Contact Terry Brickerd, member of the Board of Directors, at terrybrickerd@yahoo.com.
