Whether you’ve lived here or have just recently moved in, it’s important to keep in mind how trash and recycling works in Ashburn Village. Here’s some information for you to keep in mind throughout 2007:
The Association uses New Vision for trash and recycling service. If you live at Ashburn Meadows Apartments, Saddleridge Apartments, Winger House East and West Apartments, Lakeshore Condominiums or the Four Seasons at Ashburn Village Condominiums, this service is contracted for by you management company. Please contact your management company with any questions.
YARD WASTE
Pickup: Monday
Yard waste (grass clipping, leaves, and tree branches) should be placed at the curb on Sunday night after dark or before 7:00 a.m. Monday morning for pickup on Monday. Yard waste will be picked up by New Vision before 5:00 p.m.
Yard waste should be placed in large yard waste (paper) bags available at most home improvement stores or in paper grocery store bags. Residents not wishing to use paper bags can also use trash cans that are labeled YARD WASTE. Plastic bags are not acceptable!
Sticks and tree branches should be bundled in lengths to a maximum of 4 feet. Questions about yard waste should be directed to New Vision at (703) 830-7908.
Townhome Neighborhoods: Yard waste MUST be placed at the curb in front of each townhome and may not be placed at a mailbox island or parking island.
TRASH
Pick-up: Tuesday and Friday
Trash should be placed at the curb on Monday night after dark or before 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning for pickup on Tuesday or after dark Thursday or before 7:00 a.m. Friday morning for Friday pickup. Trash will be picked up by New Vision before 5:00 p.m.
Residents may use any trash can or container of their choosing. The Association encourages residents to use strong, thick trash bags for their trash when not using a container at the curb.
White kitchen and bathroom vanity bags are generally not durable enough to prevent splitting and ripping and are not recommended for use at the curb without use of a hard sided trash container. All bags should be secured or tied at the top to prevent trash from spilling out or blowing on windy days.
Cardboard, such as moving boxes and other types of boxing material, is considered to be a recyclable and should be placed out on any recycling day (Wednesday).
Townhome Neighborhoods: Trash MUST be placed at the curb in front of each townhome and not be placed at a mailbox island or parking island.

Cardboard, such as moving boxes and other types of boxing material, is considered to be a recyclable and should be placed out at the curb with your recycles. Boxes should be broken down so that they lie flat.

LOUDOUN COUNTY HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENTS
The Loudoun County Office of Solid Waste Management conducts several Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events throughout the year to collect used and unwanted household hazardous materials such as gasoline and household chemicals. For these events, a special contractor comes to the county to accept and package the waste for shipment to an appropriate processing facility. Please check http://www.loudoun.gov/oswm/hhw.htm for a 2007 schedule.
Additionally, certain solid materials such as construction debris (lumber, dirt, rocks, and brick to name a few), motor oil and other used oils, antifreeze, auto batteries, and plate glass will not be accepted by New Vision. These materials may be taken to the landfill at 20939 Evergreen Mills Road (Rt. 621), about four miles south of Leesburg. Please check http://www.loudoun.gov/oswm/landfill.htm for hours and other details.
SPECIAL PICK-UPS
