Covenants Administration
In Ashburn Village, the Covenants Department supports the Architectural and Environmental Review Committee (AERC) and oversees the processes, policies, and procedures established by the AVCA Governing Documents and the Board of Directors.  This department also makes certain that Association rules and regulations are consistent with state statutes, including the Virginia Condominium Act, Virginia Property Owners Act, and the Virginia Nonstock Corporation Act.  All homeowner matters involving exterior change applications and inquiries, property inspections, and property violations are managed within this department.

Exterior changes to single family homes and town homes located in Ashburn Village require Association approval prior to installation.  Applications forms can be found in the Resource Center or you can select from any of the links below.  If when applying for your improvement you discover you do not have a copy of your property plat, you may request a copy of your plat from the Association by clicking here Property Plat Release Form and returning the form via fax to the Association's office at 703-478-8583.

In addition, the Covenants Department provides a homeowner who is selling their property with an Association Disclosure Package.  This package is a requirement of the Virginia Property Owners Act and contains information about the community that must be disclosed by the seller to the purchaser.  Email inquiries about the disclosure process can be sent to or you may call 703-723-7910 ext. 109.

Lot by Lot Inspections- Small Corrections, Big Rewards Work Together to Keep Ashburn Village Looking Its Best!

Lot-by-lot inspections are conducted on a rolling basis throughout the year.  Our Covenants staff visit each property in the Village (excluding the apartments and condominiums) taking time to walk the lot and assess the condition of the property.  A few simple corrections you can make to avoid common lot-by-lot violations:

  • Store all toys and recreation equipment out of view
  • Ensure that your trash and recycling containers are stored out of view on non-collection days
  • Make certain the exterior of your home is in good order and check your garage door for peeling paint or other deterioration
  • Look up!  Rake boards located at the roof line and just under the shingles should be checked for paint condition.  Often paint is faded or peeling in these areas.  This is one of most common problems identified on homes throughout the Village
  • Check the wood trim around windows and doors.  If the wood is deteriorating and paint and repair is needed, get that work scheduled now for early spring
  • If you made an exterior improvement to your property and for to obtain Association approval, don't delay any longer and get your applications submitted
  • Throughout the growing season, which is typically early spring through late fall, make certain your lawn is mowed and landscaping is edged and weeded, and maintained properly

If you already know that you have larger issues that need to be addressed, schedule the maintenance ahead of time.  If you delay, many contractors will be booked quickly, especially as warmer weather approaches and it makes it difficult to bring your property into compliance in a timely manner.  Please notify the Association if you've received a notice for a violation on which work has already been scheduled as this will avoid receiving a violation reminder from the Covenants team.

As a reminder, in accordance with Article 3, Section 3.3 Easement for Upkeep, the Association, the managing agent and any other Persons authorized by the Board of Directors are hereby granted the right of access over and through any portion of the Property in the exercise and discharge of their respective powers and responsibilities, including without limitation to make inspections for the purpose of informing owners of conditions on their properties that violate the Association's Governing Documents.  If you have any questions regarding this right of easement, please do not hesitate to contact Crishana Loritsch, Resident Services Manager, at.
